Why Any Breed Can Bite You
Dogs are mysterious creatures and can be just as playful as dangerous. Likewise, any breed can bite you. It’s not wise to assume that all golden retrievers are friendly and all pit bulls are bad.
The Scenario
Lihn is at the park with her golden retriever Lenny, enjoying some free time. Likewise, Mike was at the park with his pit bull Zander. Another person named Tammy was walking with her corgi, Lucy. The three dogs are in the same area but close to their owners. Then, another person passes by and sees them. They look at Zander and avoid him, though the pit bull playfully has his tongue out. Moreover, they gravitate toward Zander and Lucy instead. When they go to pet each dog, they receive a bite for their troubles.
The Claim
Pit bulls have the highest statistical rate of biting. However, this particular pit bull was not aggressive. On the other hand, people do not think golden retrievers and corgis will bite. Conversely, these did. The person who suffered the bites filed a claim, contending he did not know these dogs were dangerous. Their owners say their dogs do not bite typically, but the person was a stranger.
Takeaways
It is not good to make assumptions about dangers from breeds. Likewise, the person who suffered these bites went into this scenario, avoiding a dog he believed to be dangerous while actively seeking canines he felt were safe. The pit bull may have had an owner that vigorously trained him to socialize early, thus helping him not bite so aggressively. Consequently, it cost him some injuries he otherwise could have avoided.
